Farewell To The Hancellor : The Early Years

In our four-part series, reporter Evan Dixon sat down with Chancellor Kent Hance to discuss everything from his years as a student at Texas Tech to the Mike Leach controversy. There will be a new installment to our series, “Farewell To The Hancellor,” every Friday in June.

Our first installment features stories from Hance’s early years.

Originally from Dimmitt, Texas, Hance grew up as a farmer’s son. He said he enjoyed the agriculture life, but knew it was not for him. In 1961, Hance’s parents dropped him off on the Tech campus, and he has loved it ever since.

Find out what Hance did for fun during college in our interview!
