Texas Tech advertising students are hosting a fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest at 4ORE! Golf Nov. 5.

Those who visit 4ORE! Golf at 6909 Marsha Sharp Freeway between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. Thursday can donate to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest, a nonprofit organization providing parents of children fighting illness with essential resources at a Ronald McDonald House near their child’s hospital.

Brenna Williams, account manager for the event, said patrons of 4ORE! Golf must mention at the door Thursday that they would like to give to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest.

“As long as they say they are supporting the Ronald McDonald House, 15 percent of everything besides appetizers goes towards the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest,” Williams said.

The fundraiser will take place at 4ORE! Golf, located at 6909 Marsha Sharp Freeway, from 11 a.m. and 11 p.m, Nov. 5. Photo obtained from @4OREgolf on Twitter.

By using the Shopify link accessible through the QR code on the event flyer, Williams said patrons can reserve tickets beforehand for golfing time and meals and automatically donate to Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Julie Barron Wells, Director of Development and Communications for the RMHC of the Southwest, said all proceeds raised for the organization provide families with a place to stay, meals, transport and other support they need.

“It’s a home away from home for families who are worried about their child who is in the hospital,” Wells said.

Cyndie Buckle, an advertising instructor at Tech, said it is important to inform the community about the Ronald McDonald House Charities as many students do not know what the organization does.

“It’s really wonderful,” Buckle said. “They’ve done some other things, too, but that is the main thing.”

This event and others like it that support the Ronald McDonald House Charities are wonderful opportunities for both Texas Tech advertising students and the nonprofit, Well said.

“It feels great,” Wells said. “There’s 40,000 students at Tech now, and I feel like even if we had just gotten in front of 200 of them, this is a great new path for us.”

Chief Cheer Officer Jax, a yellow Labrador and therapy dog from the Ronald McDonald House Charities, will arrive at 4ORE! around noon to greet visitors.
