Getting into Texas Tech University football games at Jones AT&T Stadium only requires showing a student ID, but securing tickets to away games is not always as simple.

Red Raider fans’ passion extends beyond Lubbock as many students often travel to watch the team play, and there are many ways students get tickets to these games.

Since the only remaining games this season are outside of Lubbock, students should know they can purchase tickets at the Texas Tech Athletic Ticket Office.

“I’ve known about the option to buy tickets for away games at the box offices and I’ve taken advantage of it one time before,” Marshall Roberts, a junior public relations major, said. “It was a pretty easy way to get tickets.”

Breanna DiMillio, a pre-nursing major, said she had no idea she could get tickets for away games here in Lubbock and has used other outlets to purchase tickets in the past.

“Whenever I have gone to away games, I have usually gotten tickets on StubHub or had my friends at the other school get them for me,” DiMillio said.

The Texas Tech Athletics ticket office is located on the east side of Jones AT&T Stadium between gates five and six.

According to the ticket office, these tickets give students the opportunity to sit in a section with other Texas Tech fans and are available now for the remaining away games against Oklahoma State, Iowa State and Baylor.

When the Red Raiders played Texas Christian University, and won in overtime, there were many students from Texas Tech at the game, said DiMillio.

“I didn’t get my tickets from the athletic office but I wish I would have because it was really cool how so many students were in the same section,” DiMillio said.

While the tickets sold at the athletic ticket office are not sold at a discounted price, the opportunity to sit with fellow Red Raiders is appealing.

“I’m planning on going to the Baylor game in Dallas and I will probably get my tickets from the ticket office,” DiMillio said. “Games are always more fun when you’re with your friends, I think this option for getting tickets is great.”
