COMC Set to Study Abroad in Germany

For the first time, the Texas Tech University College of Media & Communication is offering a summer study abroad program in Germany.

During the Summer II semester, July 5 through Aug. 2, students will have the opportunity to attend the Jade University of Applied Sciences in Wilhelmshaven, Germany.

Thursday, Professor Christoph Wunck, dean of the College of Management, Information & Technology, and Professor Sabine Baumann visited Texas Tech. The Jade University professors held a conference in the College of Media & Communication to speak with any students interested in attending the summer program.

According to Wunck and Baumann, Texas Tech students will be living in a nearby hotel, close to nightlife of the coastal town.

“I’ll be teaching electronic media operations,” Texas Tech Assistant Professor Geoffrey Graybeal said. “We’re also offering a storytelling by smartphone course.”

A German professor will teach the storytelling by smartphone course.

These three-hour credit courses will be a mixture of Texas Tech and German students.

According to Graybeal, many students expressed interest at the Study Abroad Fair.

“We have more students interested in coming,” Graybeal said. “We think it’ll be a great opportunity, experience to learn and work with German students and German faculty.”

The deadline to apply for the study abroad program in Germany this summer is March 22.
