The College of Media and Communication faculty at Texas Tech University is pleased to announce the new web and video coordinator in the college’s marketing department.
Jacob Copple, Tech alumnus and current graduate student, received his bachelor’s degree in electronic media & communication. Copple hopes to graduate with his master’s in May 2015 and continue to serve the college in his new position.
Copple said his aim is to make the college’s video and photo work be identifiably professional and high-quality.
“My hope is that this college would be at the top of the list for anyone in Texas looking to work in the media industry, either creatively or analytically,” he said. “If anyone should be engaging prospective students in a visually appealing way, it’s got to be us.”
Copple served as the director of communication for five years at Mountain Hideaway. His responsibilities included managing advertising, media buying and running social media for the store.
He also worked at the Llano River Field Station in Junction, Texas, where he served as a graduate assistant to Tom Arsuffi, Ph.D., a research professor interested in aquatic and watershed ecology and environmental education. He produced videos, took media requests, created photography and accommodated communication efforts of the field station.
As an undergraduate, Copple volunteered at Lubbock Young Life, a Christian mentoring organization that generates relationships with local high school students.
In 2010, Copple spent three months in Southeast Asia with another Christian organization; while there, he learned about different cultures and gained hands-on experience.
Along with his avid love for nature and the outdoors, Copple’s photography has been published in the Texas Techsan, the official publication of the Texas Tech Alumni Association, and The Nature Conservancy Annual Report.
