Being president has its perks. You may not get to run the country, but Mortar Board is giving you the opportunity to run Texas Tech for a day.

Mortar Board is an organization that recognizes the top 50 seniors at Texas Tech, based on leadership, scholarship, and service. The group raises money throughout the year for various charitable organizations through fundraising.

One of the most popular fundraising events is the “President For A Day” raffle. Students can purchase tickets, and the lucky winner will be chosen to fill the shoes of Tech President M. Duane Nellis for a day.

Suzanne Alkul, the chairperson for “President For A Day,” said the winner gets exclusive access to places and people that most students never get. Alkul said there have been less than 100 tickets sold so far, so the odds of winning are pretty good!
