The Music Space

Before there was Facebook, there was Myspace. Everyone remembers middle school arguments about who is in your “Top 8”, and spending hours picking the perfect song for your profile. But when was the last time you really checked Myspace out?

How Myspace used to look.

How Myspace used to look.

In 2006, it was the most visited website in the world, even over Google and Yahoo. With Facebook’s rise to being the most used social media network in 2011, Myspace suffered. After laying off nearly half of its employees, Myspace was sure to be doomed.

Enter Justin Timberlake. After the entertainment mogul invested in more than half of the website, the theme of the site changed.   The site is now trying to better connect musicians to their fans, rather than focusing on personal profiles. Artists such as Pharrell Williams and Mac Miller instantly jumped on the Myspace bandwagon.

Myspace numbers are starting in increase again, with more than 1 million people signing up for the service daily. Will you be the next person to sign up?

We asked students to check out the new Myspace, and give their opinions on the changes. Watch the video below!
