Time is running out to apply for the national honor society whose members are recognized as some of the top seniors at Texas Tech University.

The Forum Chapter of Mortar Board is accepting membership applications for the 2014-2015 school year until Feb. 1.

Students currently in their junior or senior year whose graduation date is after summer 2014 are eligible to apply.

The minimum requirements are a 3.25 GPA and 90 semester hours by the end of summer 2014. Applicants must also commit to active membership.

According to the organization’s website, current members will evaluate applicants anonymously, based on their achievements in scholarship, leadership and service.

Mortar Board hosts events throughout the year, such as the faculty recognition reception, president for a day, and flower sales at graduation. Members also participate in events such as Arbor Day and volunteer with the West Texas Humane Society.
