Wrapping Up Christmas

FinishedThe holidays are drawing nearer with each passing final exam, and after the semester ends, students get the chance to give back to their loved ones who managed to somehow put up with them during their deranged all-nighters fueled by coffee and late night pizza deliveries.

Why not show them your appreciation with not just a thoughtful gift, but a beautifully wrapped one as well? Here are some simple and unique gift-wrapping ideas that will spice up the season of giving.

Start off with some wrapping paper and accessories that cater to your own taste, as well as the one receiving the gift. Try to stay away from the standard red and green Rudolph and Frosty print and giant glitter bows. Places like Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, Target and Wal-Mart usually have decent sales on Christmas décor.

I used matte black and metallic silver paper and began by plainly wrapping the boxes.

For the present in black, I took into account the fact that my roommate Molly, the recipient, has a rather skilled green thumb so I attached the tag to a fake mistletoe garnish and then stuck it to the box with decorative tape.

I thought the silver one needed little embellishment because metallic paper is already decorative, so I simply took some gift trim and wrapped it around the box a few times for an interesting effect, and tied the tag to it with a string of twine.Black

This took approximately five minutes per present, but the outcome is a memorable detail of the entire package; one that will have the recipient claiming they “don’t even want to open it it’s so pretty!”
