Tech Law School Hosts Open House

Texas Tech’s School of Law gave prospective students a chance to ask current students about admission and classes.

Stephen Perez, assistant dean of admissions and recruitment, said the open house was a chance for students of all classifications to come out and learn more about law school.

He said during the open house there are tours, a mock class, a panel of question and answer with a diverse group of current law students, and a question and answer session with himself about the admissions process.

John Watts, a law professor, gave a reading assignment to the registered participants for a mock class that allows prospective students to experience what a law class is like.

Sydne Collier, a senior international business major from Keller, Texas, said her favorite part of the open house was the student panel.

Perez said the student panel was made up of five current law students who are also recruiters. He said every student is in different years of law school and a part of various organizations.

Perez said he thinks the highlight of the open house is the student panel because they were recently undergraduate students and remember what it was like going through the application process.

Collier said she loved hearing about law school from students currently enrolled. She said she liked hearing more information about the admissions process from someone who will be looking at her application.

“This was a great experience,” Collier said. “I’m glad I came.”
