MCTV Newscast: 10-9

In this Thursday edition of the MCTV Weekday Update, anchors Reese Futch and Aiden Lewis are in studio with the latest news, information and events happening around campus.  First, the newest member of the Texas Tech System’s administration made a special appearance in Lubbock for the first time since being officially named chancellor.  MCTV’s Madilyn Coyne has the details on a visit by former Texas Senator Brandon Creighton and what brought him to the Hub City.  Also, school spirit is in the air this week as the Texas Tech campus celebrates Homecoming.  We’ll have a look at a competition that allows student organizations to showcase their artistic skills along with details on the schedule for one of the biggest nights of the week-long celebration.  Later, the operation of the US Government is at a standstill as the latest shutdown continues.  Madilyn Coyne has a look at recent rhetoric from both parties and the potential effects of the shutdown here in Texas in today’s edition of MCTV’s Inside the Issues.  And the Texas Tech Volleyball returned to action this week with hopes of breaking a losing streak.  MCTV’s Logan Lacy has details on Volleyball’s latest outing, along with a preview of this weekend’s action – including a highly anticipated Homecoming matchup – in Sports.  All this and more in today’s newscast!
