MCTV Newscast: 10-23

In this Thursday edition of the MCTV Weekday Update, anchors Camille Jones and Elliott Welch are in studio with the latest news, information and events happening around campus.  The Fall semester is past the halfway point, and students around the university are working to get connected and make the most of their college experience.  Find out how one group at the College of Media & Communication is helping Public Relations students get a leg up on their future careers.  Also, the Halloween spirit is taking over campus, but the haunted holiday is not the only date with supernatural connections on the calendar next week.  We’ll show you how one university department celebrated a little early by showcasing traditions from south of the border.  Later, the “No Kings” protest made headlines around the country this weekend, including here in Lubbock, and political leaders are still trying to find common ground as the government shutdown continues this week.  Madilyn Coyne will have a look at those headlines along with the current state of peace in parts of the Middle East in today’s edition of MCTV’s Inside the Issues.  And Texas Tech Volleyball kicked off this week’s athletic calendar at the USA last night, but some other Red Raider teams are already preparing for big matchups as the fall conference season begins to near an end.  MCTV’s Logan Lacy will have all the latest details from Texas Tech Athletics in Sports.  All this and more in today’s newscast!
