A methamphetamine lab has been confirmed to have been in operation on the third floor of Talkington Hall on the Texas Tech campus. Chris Cook, the director of marketing and communication for the university, said the site had been out of operation for some time, and posed no threat or harm to the surrounding rooms or other residents of the dormitory.
Around 6:30 p.m., Cook would only comment that an ongoing investigation was being held in regards to a suspected methamphetamine facility somewhere on campus. No other details were provided. At 8:45 p.m. he reported that the site was out of commission and posed no further harm.
At 10:30 p.m., students at Talkington Hall confirmed the existence of the laboratory on the third floor of their building, but wandering the hall revealed no obvious locations. The actual location could not be confirmed past being on the third floor, and no arrest information has been released as of this time.
