Texas Technological College opened for classes in 1925, but its birth dates to a 1923 decision of the Texas legislature to create a higher education institution in West Texas. Throughout the years, Texas Tech has celebrated many events and victories— from groundbreakings and parades to the Carol of Lights. The school’s tradition of festivities culminates in this year’s celebration of the Texas Tech Centennial.
