MCTV Newscast: 10-21

In this Thursday edition of the MCTV Weekday Update, anchors Zach Herbrandson and Chris Olivares are in studio with the latest news, information and events happening around campus.  First, Texas Tech is once again playing host to a week-long set of activities, but this time students are getting the chance to learn about one of the biggest issues on a college campus.  We’ll have a look at the 2021 edition of National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week.  Also, the campus calendar exploded last week, with nearly 20 options for students to learn about the diverse population at Texas Tech.  MCTV’s Matthew Zimmerman stopped by one of the last of those events that gave attendees the chance to sample the sights, sounds and even tastes represented on campus.  Later, one group of students at the College of Media & Communication is doing more than just attending class this semester, they are also leaving a positive mark on the Lubbock community.  MCTV’s Patricia Perry has the details about a unique class that also marks the end of several students’ college careers.  And the Texas Tech Football Team is welcoming in loved ones for the annual Family Weekend celebration, but the team has much more on the line than leaving a good impression.  MCTV’s Austin Seat has a look at this Saturday’s game and what’s at stake for the Red Raiders in Sports.  All this and more in today’s newscast!
