Job Descriptions

The Hub@TTU hires three undergraduate students for paid positions each semester. Staff members are required to attend a weekly budget and planning meeting and produce expected amount of work on their own time. Staff members can work up to 20 hours a week.

Because The Hub@TTU is an online platform, most stories are expected to include multimedia elements such as photos, videos, audio packages or timelines.

Investigative Reporter

Investigative reporters work to develop high-quality, in-depth stories. They will be tasked with more advanced reporting skills, such as compiling data and filing open records requests. Multimedia knowledge is a bonus.

Campus Reporter

The campus reporter pitches, researches and produces two stories of interest to the campus community each week. This reporter will be responsible for covering any breaking news on campus.

Community Reporter

The community reporter researches, pitches and covers feature-oriented stories in beats such as health, environment and wider Lubbock community issues, such as crime. Two stories per week will be required. This reporter will be responsible for covering any off-campus breaking news.

Entertainment Reporter

The entertainment position is tasked with covering topics such as art/music, fashion/beauty, pop culture, food and humor. This reporter is required to research, pitch and write two stories per week, with the potential for one opinion or review a week.

Sports Reporter

The sports reporter will pitch, research and produce two sports-related stories a week. This may include coach and athlete spotlights, focusing on official and intramural sports. This is not a typical sports reporting position, but also focuses on health and fitness of college students. This reporter will also be responsible for any breaking sports news on campus.

Visual Content Manager

The visual content manager keeps track of all Hub@TTU equipment, helps reporters with multimedia content for stories and produces original multimedia content. Must be experienced in photography or video. Graphic development and web design knowledge is a bonus.
