This week on AHS…

“Tricks and Treats”

Of course, Wendy is regretting signing Lana away to the crazy house, so she decides something must be done to save her. Now, you know when you hear the shower running with 1950’s music playing in the background, someone’s about to be murdered. And, we are not disappointed!

There he is in all his glory, Bloody Face! He appears out of the shadows behind a beaded curtain and puts an end to Wendy. Here’s the thing. If Bloody Face is in Wendy and Lana’s house while Kit is locked up then he must not be the killer!

Welcome back to Briarcliff.

Sister Jude decides Lana’s memory is her worst enemy and is what’s stands in her way of freeing her from her “closeted demons,” aka her sexuality. In her quest to exercise Lana’s demons, Sister Jude and Dr. Arden agree to give electroshock therapy a try. Now, I’m not the squeamish type, but this scene was a little disturbing even for me.

In this episode, we meet Dr. Oliver Threadson (Zachary Quinto), who is the head shrink responsible for deciding if patients are cray cray or not. As he sits down to evaluate Kit, Kit tries to tell Dr. Threadson about the aliens taking his wife but Dr. Threadson says he’s nuts.

Cut to Dr. Arden and Sister Mary Eunice in the forest whispering about some secret when he offers her a candied apple. After refusing the apple, Dr. Arden insists she eats it, which she obliges. If there’s one thing I’ve learned from fairy tales it’s to never eat something someone is insisting you eat. It didn’t work out well for Snow White and it’s not going to turn out well for you either, Sister.

Dr. Threadson confronts Sister Jude on her unethical practices in the asylum and she essentially tell him to butt-out. Naturally, he does the opposite and barges in on a meeting with two parents who are desperate to help their 17 year old son who, apparently, ate the heart of their best horse while speaking in an unintelligible language. Like any good doctor, Dr. Threadson insists on seeing the boy before giving a diagnosis, so they venture into a holding room where the boy asks his mother where he is and tells her he’s scared before his eyes change colors and he starts speaking in a demonic voice and some crazy language.

WHAT! This is less than 25 minutes in, by the way.

So far I like Dr. Threadson. He seems like the only semi-level headed character, if there is such a thing in this show, that’s not locked in a cell.

We learn a little more about how Shelly ends up in the asylum. After Dr. Arden calls her a “dirty little slut,” she explains to him how she was engaged to a man who treated her poorly and he came home to her in bed with two Navy men during Fleet week.He was overwhelmed with rage, locking her up and declaring her crazy, but she says she’s not crazy, she just likes sex. OK, girl.

The next skin crawling scene (when is there not one, right?) is an exorcism of the 17 year old boy.

Time out.

Now, like I said before, I don’t get creeped out easily but this scene makes me feel like I need all the lights in the house on, so if you’re easily freaked out then, first of all, you shouldn’t be watching this show in the first place and secondly, you probably don’t want to watch this scene.

Back to the exorcism! I mean it, you guys. If you get scared easily, avoid the exorcism scenes like the plague!

Sister Jude rushes to the aid of boy when he starts to scream about his eyes burning, but like a light switch, he flips into a crazy demon once again. The demon-boy starts to recount Sister Jude’s past, where we learn she driving home drunk one night pre-nun and she hit and killed a little girl. This kid starts going nuts when the doctor and the priests run in and then the power in Briarcliff goes out, opening all the prison doors, giving Lana, Kit, and Grace (Lizzie Brocherè) a chance to escape. Lana refuses to go with Kit, who she still thinks is Bloody Face, so she ruins everything by screaming her head off.

Cut back to the possessed kid who is now in cardiac arrest. He’s shaking and ceasing before suddenly he sits up in the bed, looks at Sister Mary Eunice before he collapse back onto the bed, dead as a doornail. Within seconds, she falls to the floor, and you know what that means…

Girlfriend caught the demon!

OH MY WORD.

So, Dr. Arden has hired a blonde prostitute, who looks strikingly similar to Sister Mary Eunice, to dress up as a nun. Creeeeeepy! As the prostitute is changing clothes, she finds pictures of women that have been murdered. DOES THAT MEAN DR. ARDEN IS BLOODY FACE?!? I think so, but I’m not going to pretend I have anything in this show figured out yet!

Get this, even after she’s found him out and confronted him, he still tries to get dirty with her! She’s smart and goes along with it until she gets her chance to bite him and give a swift kick in the groin to escape.

At the end of the episode, we see Sister Jude rewarding Lana for her courageous actions in keeping the two prisoners from escaping by watching her give Kit and Grace 20 lashes each. At the last second, Kit tells Sister Jude that it was all him, taking on Grace’s lashes, too. Sister Jude lets Lana pick the instrument she uses to whip Kit. I mean, I don’t even know what to think!

Let’s sum this episode up…

We still aren’t sure exactly who Bloody Face is, though we THINK it’s Dr. Arden. Sister Mary Eunice is possessed. Dr. Arden has a weird thing for blonde nuns. It’s looking like Kit’s not crazy or the killer. Kit still has something to do with aliens.

Check out what next week’s episode has in store for us on HALLOWEEN below! It’s sure to be a fright!
