Painting With A Twist

Women and men gathered around tables to paint the Masked Rider at a Sunday night class at Painting with a Twist.

Painting with a Twist, a Lubbock art studio, teamed up with the Junior League of Lubbock to host a “painting with a purpose” class. This class raised money for Lubbock’s Junior League’s Food 2 kids program.

According to the Junior League, Food 2 kids is an organization that provides sacks of food to children that are identified as being high risk for suffering from hunger.

Painting with a Twist hosts a painting with a purpose class once a month to help out local organizations in the Lubbock area. Half of the proceeds go to the organizations.

Men and women came carrying bottles of wine and bags of snacks to enjoy while painting their own masterpiece.  Painting with a Twist is BYOB for those 21 and older.

Kat Powell, a painting instructor at Painting with a Twist, has been painting for almost 13 years. She said her favorite thing about her job is that she gets to do what she loves.

“It is the easiest job I could ever have,” Powell said. “I get to do what I went to school for.”

In a room filled with paintings of scenic beach views, animals, flowers, and fruity drinks, Painting with a Twist provides an atmosphere for a party or a night out. Painting with a Twist offers private parties and public classes. Contact Painting at a Twist at 806-794-7928 for more information.
