From Gustavo Cadile to the Haute Couture designs of Giambattista Valli, the 66th Emmy Awards displayed show-stopping ensembles and a few fashion faux pas.
“Orange Is The New Black” has been gaining a lot of attention, just like Laura Prepon last night in her turquoise gown. While Prepon is catching a lot of flack for her choice of outfit, I think it looks different. It has a shape that is not “cookie cutter” and definitely caught attention.
The way that the turquoise fabric reflects Prepon’s eye color and dark hair is flattering. It might not be conventional, but it does not deserve the worst title.
Another start that caught my eye was Amy Poehler from the comedy series “Parks and Recreation.”
Even though Poehler did not win in her category, she looked absolutely stunning in her silver, beaded Theia gown. Poehler is in her early 40’s, and if I look as good one day, I will be a happy camper.
Poehler was not the only one in sequins.
Hayden Panettiere, from “Nashville,” wore a soft pink dress by Lorena Sarbu and even revealed she is having a baby girl.
Sarah Hyland from “Modern Family” stood out last night, in a good way. With a sophisticated bun and luscious lashes, Hyland’s outfit was one of my favorites of the night.
With all of the fashion rights, there were several fashion wrongs.
First, and most obvious, is Lena Dunham.
Dunham is in the HBO hit called “The Girls.” She is known for her different and quirky ensembles, but her frock at the Emmy’s this year was a flop.
You can see Dunham’s opinion on her outfit here.
Sarah Paulson, “American Horror Story” actress, wore a dress that was appropriate for her role on the show. For the Emmy’s though?
Paulson’s dress is from the haute couture Armani Privé collection.
Betsy Brandt was a sight in her wilted floral gown by Alice + Olivia.
There were many other beautiful gowns that worked and some that did not.
What was your favorite look of the night?
