Government/Politics

Tensions, emotions, and uncertainty run high as American’s anticipate the upcoming presidential election in 2020.

According to the Pew Research, the economy, Supreme Court appointment, and health care are among some of the top concerns of voters in this upcoming election.

The general public’s perception of marijuana use could be stigmatized based on the facts we know, and the time and effort it takes to conduct new research.

The effects marijuana has on person, harmful or not, is very complex and widespread.

COVID-19

When Madden Baggerly began experiencing coronavirus-like symptoms while living in Chitwood Hall, the responsibility of getting tested was clear to her.

Baggerly, a freshman advertising major from Belton, said she wasted no time in scheduling an appointment with Student Health Services that got her on the phone with a nurse practitioner. After informing the nurse practitioner of her symptoms, they arranged for her to be tested for strep throat, influenza and the novel coronavirus.

On Aug. 31, Texas Tech University made the forced decision to cut 40 jobs from their athletics program as well as decrease the salaries of 198 additional employees. Many among those fearing unemployment due to the COVID-19 pandemic were collegeaged contentcreators.

Entertainment

Netflix released a six-part documentary series for the show “Cheer” on Jan. 8, which includes the cheer team at Navarro Junior College in Corsicana, Texas as they prepare to compete in the College National Championship.

The National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) & National Dance Alliance (NDA) Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championships is one of the biggest competitions held in Daytona Beach, Florida. Every year around April, teams are given 2 minutes and 15 seconds to showcase their skills before a panel of judges. While teams from across the nation jump at the chance to make it to the top, the fifth episode holds a familiar sight for locals.

Donning red, white, and black, Texas Tech cheerleaders make an appearance.
