As expressed in their bloc’s name, four candidates for executive positions of the Student Government Association hope to fearlessly lead the students of Texas Tech University.

Hunter Hall, candidate for student body president, said his main initiative focuses on sexual assault. He said survivors should know they are not to be blamed, blue lights should be functional and expanded, and SGA should be lobbying for RISE office funding, so they can hire more people and educate mores students.

Sean Barela, candidate for external vice president of SGA, said he would partner with Google Maps to create a live bus-tracking system to keep students more aware of when a bus will arrive. He said he would also partner with city council to keep Lubbock Power and Light from unfairly fluctuating rates for students.

Emily Jenkins, candidate for internal vice president of SGA, said her main initiative is to make SGA and the senate more effective. She said she would want senators to be more transparent by regularly visiting with student organizations, and wants student governments from all of the Big 12 to work together throughout the year.

Harley Puett, candidate for graduate vice president of SGA, said she wants to lessen the financial burden of graduate students and other underrepresented students. She said she will advocate for quality healthcare, mental healthcare, and low-cost childcare for students who are parents.
