Laughing Out Loud with Laugh Hub City

Lubbock has struggled to support a comedy club for years, with many unsuccessful venues closing. Laugh Hub City, a local comedy show, is trying to fill the void left by the defunct clubs.

Kendall Rodriguez and Steven Feldman, two local comedians, perform at Backstage Lubbock open mic night every Thursday. Although the comedy community in West Texas is small, the two have bigger dreams of telling jokes for bigger crowds.

Kendall Rodriguez said he tries to get as much time on stage as he can. He said it gives him the opportunity to try out material that he has been working on.

Rodriguez said he would like to be a professional comedian one day and is doing everything he can to get stage time right now. He said it is a competition with himself every week to see what material works and what does not.

Feldman said he has found his niche and really enjoys being a part of Laugh Hub City. He said he helps host and coordinate shows while also performing regular sets. He said the people he works with love comedy and encourage anyone who is interested to try their material on the stage.
