Number 1. The springtime weather means that patio drinking is back in action and at McPherson Cellars, Pop Up Patio Nights are back in action.

This event is free to the public. You can bring friends and enjoy wine, cheese trays, wood-fired pizza and live music.

Tyler Wood, a Lubbock resident, said this event is something everyone needs to experience.

“Not a lot of people know about the patio nights at McPherson,” he said. “It is something I look forward to every year when spring and summer roll around.”

Three patio nights are scheduled for this month, on May 5, May 19 and May 26.

Number 2. There are several lakes around Lubbock that Tech students can easily get to for a quick weekend getaway.

Buffalo Springs Lake is known as the “oasis of West Texas” and has fishing, nature trails, picnic shelters and campgrounds.

Jonathan Caudle, a Tech graduate, has visited Buffalo Springs Lake several times and really enjoyed it.

“I went to Buffalo Springs Lake with a group of friends, and although we didn’t swim in the lake, we went to camp and play with a drone,” he recalled.

Caudle said it was nice to get out of the city and enjoy some different scenery.

Number 3. Check out the sunset from The Gas Light patio, an upscale lounge featuring specialty drinks and delicious food. It is also considered the best spot in Lubbock to watch the sunset.

Be sure and catch the beautiful sunset on the patio at The Gas Light while enjoying good food, drinks and your closest pals.

Overlooking a playa lake, it is the perfect spring/summer spot to have a chill dinner and drinks with friends. The food is great, said Megan Crabtree, a graduate student at Tech’s Health Sciences Center, but the patio is a must on pretty West Texas days.
