Kylie Lip Kit Kraze Vs. Cheaper ColourPop

If you cannot get your hands on the sold-out Kylie Jenner’s lip kits, there are a few other options. You can spend thousands on eBay, wait until they are restocked or buy a similar product.

According to PopSugar, some beauty junkies are speculating that Kylie’s lip kit is actually repackaged ColourPop Lippies. This has caused some controversy but has not affected Jenner’s sales, with her products selling out each time she launches them.

Reddit users said the rumor surfaced after the lip kits sold out in a single minute last week. Upset fans begged for a quick restock, and beauty bloggers noticed major similarities in the two sets of swatches.

NikkieTutorials tweeted (and quickly deleted): “Let’s say you want the kits but not spend the money, pay close attention to Colourpop’s ‘Clueless,’ ‘Beeper,’ and ‘Limbo.'”

The conspiracy then spiraled out of control.

Lubbockite and beauty junkie Kyndal Carter said a picture of the sets of swatches next to each other she saw on Twitter persuaded her Colourpop offered the better route.

“It’s a lot cheaper, and it’s not worth the hassle,” Carter said. ” I know Kylie has a problem of shipping out all of her stuff.”

Carter said she has friends who have yet to receive their lip kits from Jenner’s very first release.

Although she has not compared the swatches herself because the price tag, she said she loves ColourPop because it lasts all day and is good quality.

Carter said most people order the Kylie Lip Kit because of the name brand.

“She has her own little empire going,” Carter said. “So that’s good for her, but for me, I wouldn’t want to spend the money on something that might not even come in the mail.”

Makeup lover Jordan Jackson prefers darker lip colors, and True Brown by Kylie Cosmetics is her favorite.

Jackson tried ordering a Dolce Kylie Lip Kit the first time it launched, but was unsuccessful because it was sold out by the time she typed her card number.

Jackson waited for Jenner to drop more lip kits, and was able to buy some at that time. Although she agrees ColourPop is cheaper and has more colors, she still buys the lip kits along with ColourPop.

“You get what you pay for,” Jackson said. “With ColourPop, I feel like my lipstick smears sometimes.”

Jackson said she receives compliments whenever she is wearing a Kylie lip.

Jenner’s customer service has been rumored to be bad. Jackson, who waited for a lip kit for two or three weeks, said she tried to contact customer service, but the only option was to send an email.

“You just hope someone answers you,” Jackson said with a laugh.

She is already excited about ordering the new metal collection Kylie Jenner has been advertising on social media.

Jackson said it is hard to compare colors.

“Mary Jo, for instance: you can’t find a replica of that,” Jackson said. “It’s so pigmented red. Some of them you can, and some of them you really can’t.”

Even though Jackson’s go-to lipstick is LAX by ColourPop, she still believes Kylie’s products are better, although “expensive and hard to get.”

You can snag a ColourPop lip for $6 and liner for $5. By comparison, Kylie’s lip kit includes both the lip and liner for $29, along with $8 for shipping.

“She’s created this mega brand at such a young age, and being in the social light, people are like ‘OMG, it’s Kylie, I have to get it,'” Jackson said. “But at the same time, … anything she wears or puts on her face, she always shares it with her fans so that they can get it, too. Even the NYX products she used — I would try to go get it, too — and they were off the shelves just because she uses it.”
