22 Things College Students Are Thankful For

College is both a wonderful and sometimes terrifying experience. Take some time out of your busy day to be thankful!

1. Care packages from Mom and Dad

 2. Cancelled 8 a.m. classes

We all know better than to sign up for a class before 10 a.m., but sometimes there is no way around it. Try to go as often as possible, and save those unexcused absences for real reasons. Cancelled classes come to those who wait!

3. When no one else is in the residence hall bathroom

The moment of victory is instantly ruined by a cold toilet seat, or even worse, a warm one.

4. Nights with no homework

Watch seven episodes of “Supernatural” or any other show you can binge watch on Netflix. You’ve earned it.

5. Pay day

Whether the money is from your job or from your grandma, a feast is in order! Splurge for the 10 piece chicken nuggets.

7. That perfect studying spot in the library

With so many people, the library can be stressful and distracting. Finding the perfect study spot may be tricky, but your grades will thank you.

Whether it is black as night, foamy with milk, or sweet with syrups, it is a daily necessity.

There is no shame in ordering the cheapest items in the restaurant… unless you are on a date. Do not do that.

10. Tests that are easier than you expected

Even if you pulled an all nighter, it is always worth it when you blow through that test in 30 minutes and ace it.

11. Good roommates

A good roommate is hard to come by, so cherish them when you find one.

After an eventful Saturday, a day where all you do is eat junk food and watch Netflix is much needed. Treat yo’ self!

13. College sports

Whether you are into football or basketball, the atmosphere at sporting events is unbeatable. It is even better if your team is unbeatable, too!

14. Getting to get rid of your textbooks at the end of the semester

It stinks to get pennies back for a textbook you spent $347 on, but knowing you do not have to open that book ever again is almost worth it.

15. Classes you actually enjoy

Sometimes it is the teacher; sometimes it is the content. Having a class you like is crucial to surviving the semester.

Wi-Fi that works is crucial to a successful college career. You need internet to turn homework in. You also need internet to browse Tumblr while you are procrastinating on homework. Whatever your priorities are, a lot of them will require internet access.

Parking on a college campus can be a challenge. Choose wisely and avoid parking tickets!

19. A good Tinder match

20. Good friends

Some of my best friends are fellow College of Media and Communication students. I met Erin Willis (left picture) in a photography class my sophomore year. Marcos Palacios (right picture) and I met when we worked at Old Navy together.

You will never be around this many people who like the same things as you do again. Do yourself a favor and find some good friends during your time in college!
