Inside Peek: Ad Team, Spring Break

Spring Break!  It’s a kind of an irrelevant term for Ad Team members since we have to work through through week to get everything finished, or close to it. During the hectic week, we worked on:

  • Finishing the book, including copy and edits
  • Designing and layout of the book
  • Working on the first draft of the presentation
  • Taking videos and pictures for the book and presentation
  • Creating props from promotions
  • and much more!

The beginning of the week focused around the book with writing, edits and designs since it had to be turned in by that Friday. The end of the week was focused more around everything needed for presentation.

Spring Break on Ad Team is one of the craziest weeks since each group is pressed for time to get everything done on an extremely strict deadline. We started on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. with donuts and coffee while Bichard gave a brief overview of what our week would look like. Each day, we were required to come up to the college between 9 and 10 a.m. to work on what needed to be done for each group. Depending on how quickly everyone worked, some groups were able to head home at night and get some sleep. Most of the people working on the book, including myself, and the creative team were up until the early hours of the morning working each day off little sleep.

Luckily, each person was able to get one day off to relax, although many crazy things did happen due to lack of sleep. Here are some examples:

That’s not all of the crazy pictures that were passed around the team, but they are the only ones that were captured to share! You should consider yourself very lucky.

Even though the week was extremely rough with long hours and little sleep, we made it through. Our book is finished and was sent in on time. Our props are being built and ordered in time to decorate for competition. Our presentation team is working hard at making an amazing speech and powerpoint. Our tactical demo team is working on finishing the final touches to our videos.

It’s been a crazy, fun ride so far and we still have a few weeks until competition!
