'Tis The Season For Giving, Not Receiving

For most of us the holidays are a time to visit family, reconnect with friends, and receive that much coveted gift or cash from Grandma.

This past weekend I was reminded of  how fortunate I really am. While driving in the icy cold weather we had on Saturday, I saw several homeless people walking in the cold without a proper coat to keep them warm.

This reminded me there are people struggling each day to support themselves and their families, and some of us take our blessings for granted. This holiday season I would like to encourage everyone to help make somebody’s Christmas just a little bit brighter this year.

Lubbock has so many charities dedicated to helping the Lubbock Community. You can donate food to the South Plains Food Bank, or donate toys to Salvation Army and Goodwill. If you are a little tight on money this holiday season, you can also donate your time. Many charities simply need volunteers to help sort out donated items or spend time with children and the elderly. Another way to give back is to simply go online and vote for the City Bank Community Rewards program. City Bank is donating a total of $50,000 to ten local charities this year. Go online and vote for your favorite charity to help them win funding to support their missions.

The holiday season is a time for us to be grateful, and to have a chance to give back to our community by helping others have a cheerful holiday. To learn more about how to vote, go to the hyperlink or click on the image below.
