The New Vice President for Research

Amid all of the conversation that erupted Thursday concerning Friday’s announcement of Texas Tech University System Chancellor Kent Hance’s retirement, the recently appointed President Duane Nellis officially announced the university’s new vice president for research in an email to the Tech community.

“He is well-respected nationally by his peers and has an extensive and successful background in research,” President Nellis stated in the email.

Duncan did his undergraduate studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he received a bachelor’s degree in physics. He also holds a master’s degree in physics from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Duncan received a Ph.D. in physics from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1988.
