WWLW? Wedding Edition

WWLW? = What Would Lauren Wear? This is a simple acronym of my fashion input that could make or break your look at a gathering or shindig. Feel free to read at your own risk.

I would like to take a moment to focus on something that seems to be reoccurring in my life and could quite possibly be the same for you lovely readers. Is everyone in your life getting engaged? Because I can count over 10 couples who I personally know that have received rocks the size of my nose placed on their delicate ring fingers within the past six months.

Is it just that time of the year? Or did a certain group in my social media –sphere decide to all get hitched within a certain period? Regardless, I bet you’re starting to see this within your own Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram feeds. This is a time of celebrating and remembrance! But, the real question that remains is: Why should you care?

I will give you a solid reason as to why you should give two flying ducks about this topic. You’re most likely going to get invites to these weddings (especially as you get older). With this being said now you have an even bigger issue on your hands: WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO WEAR TO SAID WEDDING?!

This is where WWLW? comes into play. Trust me, even if you are a fashionista diva supreme just hear me out. You could learn something from my suggestions, and if not, share this link with one of your friends who were blessed with other gifts besides fashion.

I’ve narrowed it down to four different wedding scenarios. Given, your friends and families weddings could be any other theme or at any other venue, but these are some that I have personally been to and what styles seemed to be fitting for said ceremonies.

The City Hall Ceremony: My cousin recently got married to his wife at city hall. It was a small ceremony but it was the option that worked best for them. I mean, Carrie Bradshaw went down that route and she looked fabulous (as usual). For this marital union I would advise the guests to look put together, but nothing too over the top. Looks wise I chose this Valentino White Chantilly Lace Jumpsuit via Lyst.com, and a Multicolor Embellished Printed Silk Chiffon Dress by Anna Sui via Lyst.com. These two looks are elegant and perfect for the casual-yet-cute wedding. They’re two looks that are feminine but hold their own based on the different designers and style of actual clothing.

Outdoor Weddings: Maybe your sister is deciding to have a wedding on the beach. I know one of my close friends has talked about doing this for her future ceremony for years. When I think outdoors (whether it be a wedding by a lake, sea, outside of your parents house, a garden wedding, etc.) I instantly think of something flowy and light with some color. For this look I chose a Jack By BB Dakota Bayberry Chiffon Maxi Dress via Urban Outfitters, and a Floral Print Bow Front V Neck Gown by Nina Ricci via Lyst.com. Both of these dresses are very different based on their patterns, but I think they’re both equally gorgeous for outdoor weddings.

Country Club Wedding: The most recent wedding I attended was a country club wedding. I honestly had the best time and the ceremony was beautiful. In my opinion it’s simplistic elegance. Everything looked very put together and tasteful, which is what I based both of these looks on. I chose a Rana Dress (the print is resort white sunkissed) by Lilly Pulitzer. I also chose a Blue Pleated Prom Dress by Jane Norman via Lyst.com. These two dresses are great because they cater to two different tastes but I think the two looks would work at this type of wedding.

Black Tie Affair: Okay, one of my friends needs to hurry up and have a wedding like this ASAP. Ever since I saw The Great Gatsby this is what I image my future wedding to look like…a girl can dream. Everyone is dressed to the nines and wearing their best looks. For this wedding I chose a Purple Draped Bustier Gown by Alexander McQueen via Lyst.com, and a Gold Beaded Blouson Style Dress by Untold via Lyst.com. Talk about elegant! Both dresses are so gorgeous I could see either of them on anyone attending the black tie wedding. The gold dress is a personal favorite. #OhEmGatsby

So there you have it. Those are my top looks for what you should wear to all of the upcoming weddings you’ve been invited to. I’m not insinuating that these looks are must haves slash they might not exactly be your exact taste, but it gives you a little something-something to base your wedding wardrobes on.

If you don’t feel like purchasing an actual outfit for a one-day ceremony, I suggest www.renttherunway.com. You can look and rent almost any designer look and they get it to you in fashionable time so you’re prepared for the wedding day (then everyone will want to know where you got that dress).

Just remember y’all, when it doubt simply ask yourself, WWLW?
