Artist Spotlight: Raina Shannon

Well, would you look at that. It’s the Hub’s very own lifestyle director, Aida Reyna, modeling for a photo shoot experiment! This was a series focusing on texture, but inspired by high fashion photography. The idea is for the model to be a texture herself, rather than the photo be JUST of the model. I took these pictures in my apartment, against a white wall, and photoshopped Aida in front of scanned journal covers. I then printed out the photos as they were, added a little glitter texture by hand, doodled a bit on them, scanned them in again, and went on layering. In short, these photos are a series of layers, hand-treated and digital. Personally, I think they’re pretty nice, and I don’t say that a lot about my work (after all, we are our worst critics). But what do you think?

  1. Sweet. I think the middle one works best as far as the model becoming a texture in the image. nice work
